Decision records preserve reasoning that would otherwise disappear when people, projects, or tools change. They complement product documentation: product pages say what is true now; decisions explain why a durable boundary was chosen.
The public decision authority for records here is Rei, Founder & CEO, unless a record explicitly and evidentially names another decider. A machine-readable index is available at /decisions.json.
Status meanings
- Proposed: open for decision; not yet a binding direction.
- Accepted: current direction.
- Superseded: replaced by a linked newer decision.
- Rejected: considered but not chosen.
- Retired: no longer applicable and not replaced.
Use the decision standard to decide when a record is warranted.
